Scientific Research and Special Applications: The “Gas Key” That Breaks Technological Boundaries
Semiconductor manufacturing
High-purity argon gas (purity ≥ 99.9999%) is used in silicon wafer etching processes; its inert nature prevents excessive plasma-induced corrosion of the wafers. Through collaboration with Kunming University of Science and Technology, the Shenlong Oxygen Plant has developed an argon purification unit suitable for 8-inch wafer fabs, filling a gap in the western Yunnan region.
Cryogenic Experiment
Liquid nitrogen provides a cryogenic environment (-196℃ to -269℃) for superconducting magnets and quantum computing devices. The liquid nitrogen supply station, jointly established by this plant and the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, supports a high-altitude plant genome sequencing project; the related findings have been published in the journal Nature Plants.
